# The difference between Roolz and other transportation systems

**Roolz is not an intermediary or a freight forwarder. It is a digital infrastructure for independently organizing freight transportation and purchasing transportation services.**

The platform helps shippers and logistics companies manage transportation independently. It supports working with a personal pool of trusted carriers and forwarders, conducting online procurement processes, finding new service providers and communicating with counterparties within a single digital environment.

Unlike traditional spot freight exchanges, which focus primarily on finding one-off transportation options, and TMS solutions, which are mainly designed to manage already-organized transportation, **Roolz combines tools for finding and purchasing transportation services, working with partners and interacting with the market in a single platform**.

### ✅ Open market + personal partner pool

#### Roolz allows users to work in two formats at the same time:

* **Public exchange** — for finding new service providers and organizing spot shipments on the open market.
* **Private exchange** — for closed procurement within a company’s personal pool of trusted carriers and forwarders.

These two formats can complement each other. For example, if there is no suitable provider in a company’s personal pool, a shipper can turn to the public market, find a new partner and later add them to the private pool.

Thus, the **public exchange expands the available search market, while the private exchange enables systematic work with trusted partners**.

### ✅ Full-scale procurement instead of simple carrier search

Roolz enables users not only to post a request and receive bids, but also to organize the online procurement of transportation services.

Four bidding modes are available for different needs: **Bargain**, **Auction**, **Fix** and **Ad**. The shipper selects the appropriate format, specifies the transportation requirements, invites relevant participants and compares offers in a single interface.

This transforms transportation procurement from a series of scattered negotiations, messages and spreadsheets into a structured digital process.

### ✅ Working with regular partners

Roolz is designed not only for one-off transactions. A shipper can build and develop **their own pool of carriers and forwarders** on the private exchange.

**Partners can be grouped** according to specified criteria and invited to relevant procurement processes. The history of interactions with partners can be stored in a single system.

This is particularly important for contract logistics, where the value lies not only in having a service provider, but also in effectively managing a **network of trusted transportation service providers**.

### ✅ Road and multimodal transportation in a single system

Roolz supports both road and **multimodal transportatio**n, including routes involving road, rail, sea and air transport.

The stages of a multimodal shipment can be combined into a single offer and managed within one order and route, eliminating the need to handle different sections of the transportation in separate systems.

### ✅ Communication and data management within the platform

Roolz combines transportation procurement with tools for ongoing operations:

* **Business messenger** for communicating with counterparties;
* **Company directory** for finding and presenting potential partners;
* **Partner groups** for segmenting a personal partner pool;
* **Email notifications** about important events;
* **Data export** in **Excel**, **CSV** and **JSON** formats;
* **Public API and integrations** with **CRM**, **TMS**, **ERP**, **WMS** and other systems.

As a result, users do not need to constantly switch between exchanges, messengers, spreadsheets and other tools, as core transportation management processes are consolidated within a single digital environment.

### ✅ Roolz does not charge a commission on transportation costs

**Roolz does not charge a commission on the cost of transportation.**

This distinguishes the platform from an intermediary model: Roolz is not a party to the transaction and does not influence the choice of service provider or the transportation price. The shipper and carrier negotiate the terms of cooperation directly.

This approach provides greater transparency and allows Roolz to be used as an independent tool for organizing and purchasing transportation services.

### ✅ Flexible usage model

Roolz can be used for a wide range of purposes, from finding a one-time service provider on the public market to regularly purchasing transportation services from a personal partner pool.

**Core features are available without commission for posting cargo and vehicle offers, participating in bids or promoting a company profile.** Advanced functionality is available through a subscription.

### ✅ Why is it important for business?

Roolz brings together in a single system processes that are usually managed using several different tools:

**finding service providers → working with regular partners → purchasing transportation services → conducting online bids → communicating → managing data → integrating with corporate systems.**

At the same time, the cargo-owning company retains control over its relationships with carriers and makes its own decisions about the choice of service provider and transportation terms.

**Roolz is therefore more than a freight exchange: it is a unified digital environment for organizing and purchasing transportation services, interacting with the market and managing a personal pool of transportation partners.**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.roolz.net/en/the-difference-between-roolz-and-other-transportation-systems.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
